Description
In this apical TTE clip, agitated saline is injected into the patient\s IV line and we look for evidence of bubbles in the LV. In this case, the bubbles show up in 2 heartbeats, consistent with a right to left shunt somewhere in the heart. This patient suffered a stroke, which prompted the study. Further review of the TTE did not reveal a shunt source and TEE would be an appropriate next step.
